Gateway appliance system maintenance is performed automatically for operating system updates, Gateway software updates, and Device Library updates when auto-update is enabled on the Gateway in EcoStruxure IT Expert.
Enable auto-update in IT Expert (recommended)
To enable auto update:
- Log in to IT Expert https://app.ecostruxureit.com/manage
- Go to Administration > Gateways.
- Click Enable auto-update on the Gateway appliance tile.
If you have chosen not to enable auto-update, you must update the Gateway software, the Gateway appliance operating system, and the Gateway device library manually.
Manually update the Gateway appliance in IT Expert
If a Gateway software version is available, it is required that you update the software first. You will then be prompted to update the operating system if an OS update is available, and then the device library.
To manually update the Gateway appliance:
- Log in to IT Expert https://app.ecostruxureit.com/manage
- Go to Administration > Gateways.
- Click the Gateway appliance tile. The tile will indicate that an update is required.
- Click Update.
- Continue until all updates have been applied. Updates are applied one at a time.
Once the software update is finished, you might have to click Update again to apply the OS update, and then again to apply the Device Library update.
Gateway appliance OS updates are independent of Gateway software releases. Gateway device library updates are released regularly, independent of both the Gateway software and OS.
The Gateway appliance OS update uses yum, a package management utility. Internet access via HTTPS over port 443 is required.
The Gateway software stack, including any of its dependent software packages such as Java and Postgres, is updated in the Gateway software update process.
