The Gateway appliance system maintenance is performed automatically for both operating system updates and Gateway software updates.
Gateway appliance OS updates are independent of Gateway software releases. You can use Webmin to tune your appliance OS update schedule to best suit your needs.
By default, the Gateway appliance checks for OS or supporting package updates weekly. You can use Webmin to tune this if you only want security updates, for example. The default configuration is to include any available updates.
The Gateway appliance OS update uses yum, a package management utility. Internet access over port 80 is required.
The Gateway software stack, including any of its dependent software packages such as Java, Tomcat, and Postgres, is updated in the Gateway software update process, not via Webmin.
Note: If you prefer full control of your server, you can install the Gateway software on a CentOS 7+ or RHEL 7.x+ system that you manage.
