What version is my Gateway appliance?
Updating Gateway appliance version 1.9 and older
In Gateway version 1.9 and earlier, the Gateway appliance system maintenance is performed automatically for both operating system updates and Gateway software updates.
You use Webmin to tune your appliance OS update schedule.
By default, the Gateway appliance checks for OS or supporting package updates weekly. You can use Webmin to tune this if you only want security updates, for example. The default configuration is to include any available updates.
Updating Gateway appliance version 1.10 and newer
The Gateway appliance system maintenance is performed automatically for operating system updates, device library updates, and Gateway software updates when you have auto-update enabled in IT Expert.
Gateway appliance OS updates are independent of Gateway software releases. Starting in Gateway 1.10, IT Expert Administrator users can update the OS on a Gateway appliance on the IT Expert Administration > Gateways page.
The Gateway appliance OS update uses yum, a package management utility. Internet access over port 80 is required.
The Gateway software stack, including any of its dependent software packages such as Java and Postgres, is updated in the Gateway software update process, not in the OS update.
Note: If you prefer full control of your server, you can disable auto-update for your Gateway appliance in IT Expert or install the Gateway software on a CentOS 7+ or RHEL 7.x+ system that you manage.
