Asset Definition is a paid service for new third party Device Definition File (DDF) requests for Data Center Expert or requests for EcoStruxure IT Gateway device support not included in the Gateway device library.
If any of your power and cooling devices are unsupported by the Gateway or by Data Center Expert, you can purchase this service to create and program support for up to twenty devices, including up to three revisions.
Device support purchased for individual devices is designed to be compliant for either Data Center Expert or EcoStruxure IT Gateway, not both.
Support for devices will be delivered on a pre-defined date. Pricing is customized based on the number of DDFs you request.
Note: DCE DDF requests for APC devices are free of charge, however, there is no timeline for delivery.
How to request device support using the service
For EcoStruxure IT Gateway
The Asset Definition service is available for EcoStruxure IT Gateway device support requests to monitor 3rd party devices on EcoStruxure IT Expert and use the EcoStruxure Asset Advisor service.
For EcoStruxure IT only, you can request support for devices not currently included in the Gateway device library, Please note that device support requests that are not purchased using the Asset Definition service are prioritized based on the number of requests for a given device. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a timeline for these requests.
For Data Center Expert
Our Data Center Expert DDF repository now contains the most commonly requested DDFs. Support for additional 3rd party devices in DCE can only be added through the Asset Definition service.
To request a DCE DDF:
- Go to https://ddf.ecostruxureit.com/ and search for the device. A DDF might already be available.
- If a DDF is not available, click the Submit a request link at the bottom of the page.
